First Confession and First Holy Communion 2025
First Confession and First Holy Communion are only for children baptised in the Roman Catholic Church. Every child must be registered with our Parish and provide proof of baptism in order to receive the sacraments of First Confession and First Holy Communion.

Upcoming Sessions for Parents
First In-person session: Tuesday 12th November 2024 at 7 p.m. in Knockmitten Church hall.
First Zoom session: Tuesday 26th November 2024 at 7.30 p.m (the link will be emailed on the day).
This session will focus on Baptism, your own experience, and what it means to be baptised into the family of God’s people, the Church.
The same material will be offered at both sessions. You can choose which one you would prefer to attend.
We will have two sessions on First Reconciliation during January and February and two sessions on the Mass and First Communion in March and April. Again, we will offer a choice of Zoom or in-person sessions.
Other things to watch out for:
· Godly Play will be on offer to your children before Christmas and before and after Easter.
· Zoom prayer sessions – 20/20 will be offered to PARENTS & GUARDIANS ONLY during the school year – we hope it will a good chance to have some quiet time of prayer and reflection at the end of the day.
· Children’s Liturgy of the Word: will take place at the 12 noon Mass on Sundays at certain times during the year. The children will be taken into the Parish Centre during the Readings at Mass and will have their own space to reflect on the Readings or the Gospel.
· Keep an eye out for these dates – they will be posted on this website and on Facebook. We will also send you emails to remind you, so please make sure we have your correct email address.
· Keep an eye out for any parish events that your family might be interested in- especially during Advent/Christmas, Lent/Easter.

Saturday 17th May: St. Joseph’s BNS at 12 noon
Saturday 24th May: Scoil Aine NS at 10am
Saturday 24th May: Scoil Ide NS at 12 noon
Saturday 24th May: Clonburris NS at 11am (in Clonburris Church)
First Confession/First Reconciliation will take place during Lent 2025. Arrangements of dates and times will be made with each school closer to the time.
Our Parish will provide some resources directly to parents throughout the year, as they are made available through the diocese, to assist them and their children in preparing for these Sacraments. This is in addition to and complimentary of the Grow in Love programme which is being done in the RE classes in school.
