Proposed new Sunday Mass schedule

The recent retirement of Fr. Des Byrne in Knockmitten has forced a reappraisal of our Sunday Mass schedule. Over the past two weeks the Parish Pastoral Council has met twice to try and tease out how best to address the issue of overlapping Mass times on Sunday mornings. With one less priest available we need to make some adjustments to the schedule to ensure that Mass can continue to be celebrated each Sunday for the communities in Clondalkin Village, Knockmitten and Clonburris.

After discussing various options during the past week, the Parish Pastoral Council agreed to put a revised Sunday Mass schedule to people at Masses this weekend for their consideration. The proposed new schedule achieves three objectives. First, it is possible for two priests to manage on those occasions when the third priest is away, sick or unavailable for any other reason. Second, we retain the current six weekend Masses. Third, the proposed new schedule causes the minimum amount of disruption with changes being made to the times of just three of our six weekend Masses.

The proposed new Sunday Mass schedule is as follows:

Saturday Vigil Mass:
6.30pm in the Village Church    (No change)

Sunday Masses:
9am in Irish in the Village Church  (No change)
10.15am in the Village Church   (15 minutes earlier)
10.45am in Clonburris   (15 minutes earlier)
11.30am in Knockmitten   (30 minutes later)
12 noon in the Village Church   (No change)

The Parish Pastoral Council welcomes any comments or feedback that people may have. Comments or further suggestions may be emailed to the parish office at office@clondalkinparish.com or handed into the parish office or sacristy, or given to one of members of the parish team.
