There is training being given for those involved in the Ministry of the Word as Readers – and for anyone who would like to begin this important ministry.

The course is divided up into a choice of sessions to suit your individual needs and experience.  All sessions are suitable for those new to the ministry and those with experience seeking renewal and further development.

SESSION 1: Back to basics! and Breaking open God’s Word
Tuesday 7th May 7.30pm-9.30pm   Immaculate Conception Parish Pastoral Centre, Clondalkin Village
Wednesday 8th May 7.30pm-9.30pm Immaculate Heart of Mary, Rowlagh/Quarryvale

This session is not only an introduction to the Ministry of Reader (what is involved and what it means) but will also look at ideas for exploring the richness of the Scriptures so we are better able to proclaim it.
This would especially suit any new Ministers of the Word or as a refresher for those with experience.

SESSION 2: Exploring the Lectionaries and The Prayer of the Faithful
Wednesday 15th May 7.30pm-9.30pm Immaculate Heart of Mary, Rowlagh/Quarryvale
Thursday 16th May 7.30pm-9.30pm   Immaculate Conception Parish Pastoral Centre, Clondalkin Village

How are the readings chosen? Is there any reason to it? How do they relate to each other?  This session will explore the books we use to proclaim from and help Ministers find their way around them.  We will also have an opportunity to look at how the Prayer of the Faithful is structured and written… and to have a go at writing it!
This would especially suit any new Ministers of the Word or as further development for those with experience.
SESSION 3: Handy Hints, Being Prepared and Practice makes Perfect!Wednesday 22nd May 7.30pm-9.30pm Immaculate Heart of Mary, Rowlagh/Quarryvale
Thursday 23rd May 7.30pm-9.30pm   Immaculate Conception Parish Pastoral Centre, Clondalkin Village

Useful things for readers to remember and be aware of in our preparation and proclamation! And a chance to improve our practical skills: use of sound systems,  microphones, voice etc.
This is a must for ALL readers!
SESSION 4: Retreat for Readers
Saturday 15th June 10.30am-1.30pm Immaculate Conception Parish Pastoral Centre, Clondalkin Village

Some spiritual and reflective time for those involved in the Ministry of the Word of God!  This is an ideal opportunity for some well deserved time out!
